Neo Tokyo with Patric La Funk, Eddie Thoneick & Moby

There's only one word describing last Saturday night - SICK! It was so insanely good that my heartbeat goes faster only by thinking of it!

It was a very special night for so many reasons. For one, it was the first official "Neo Tokyo" party hosted by Patric La Funk. This series of parties stands for something new, something different, something shiny, something exclusive, something innovating, something crazy, something fabulous - just the kind of show you expect to be part of @ 3001!

"Neo Tokyo" is loud, colorful and very impressive. The great music is accompanied by a fascinating visual show, projected on the walls of the club.

And if this isn't spectacular enough, there were the two special guests of the night. And we're talking BIG stars here - Eddie Thoneick & Moby!!

Moby is on his European tour right now and agreed to do this very exclusive gig, which only shows that 3001 isn't just a random club you can say "no" to! In fact, it's the only club in Germany in 2011 so far, who was able to have Moby play a unique DJ set.

And I have to say, it was so much different from his concerts. It's almost like there are these two persons - Moby, the great performer, songwriter and singer and Moby, the DJ.

His set was breathtaking! The club quaked to his really sick sound and I've never thought that the sound system there or any sound system in general is able to bear something like...well, like Moby. The man totally killed it! He played for almost two hours and made room for Patric La Funk, who took over the DJ booth for the second time this evening after opening the party.

When it comes down to house music, it's very difficult to find a DJ, who:
a) produces stuff, which you like
and
b) playes stuff, which you like (meaning not only his own productions).
Well, I'm very happy to have found this person in Patric! He plays exactly my taste of music and I can always count on his perfect entertaining skills.

Just to name a few of his set highlights: Tim Mason - The Moment (Steve Angello Edit), Dabruck & Klein ft. Stella - Heartbeat, Ronn Sonno ft. Thice Santoro - Momentum, Romeo Blanen - Galactica, Calvin Harris - Awooga and so many more...

And there were these two very special moments when he played his new colab with Inpetto "Blizzard" (coming out on 21/07) and his other new production named "Baltic". Guys, I'm telling you, "Baltic" is such a beautiful song! I heard it on Saturday for the second time and can't wait for it to get released.

At around 4am people began to get tired and few decided to take off...HUGE mistake...HUGE! Because Eddie Thoneick came by. He didn't play for too long and was doing it just for fun but there's no better thing than a DJ, who is playing for fun, trust me!

"Live Your Life", "Nothing Better", "Stronger" - it was one bomb after the next one. And Eddie, it's always a pleasure to watch you dance :) I think, I've never seen someone who's more alive or someone who has more energy than Mr. Thoneick...you just have to love him for that!

All in all - one fabulous party!

Make sure to be there on 18/06, when Pat's hosting the second "Neo Tokyo" party at 3001. I don't know yet who'll be the guest star, but you can be sure that it'll be a night to remember!

Raum35 with Timo$ & Diztrak

It was a rough weekend for me :D It started on Friday, when I was at Siegburg's Room35 to watch Timo$ & Diztrak play - my two new favourite upcoming stars :)

You don't have to be famous to be a good DJ but you definitely have to be a good Dj in order to become famous. And they are both damn good! So good, that Diztrak is playing at 3001 next Saturday together with Olli Wallner and Philippe Heithier.

And Timo$ on his side is having a very creative phase lately, producing so many great mash ups!

I could tell you so much more about them but just see and listen for yourself ;)

And if you think that it might be something you'll like, join us next weekend at 3001 for another fabulous party! :)

Believe EP

There's a great new exclusive release out now on Beatport. It's called "Believe EP" and it's already #1 in the ranking of Dutchie Music.

The release includes several great tracks, but the most beautiful of them is the "Believe in Piano Mix" of "Time Restore" by one of my favourite Bulgarian producers Metodi Hristov. The track is incredibly fresh and perfect for the summer.

You can listen to the preview on Beatport and until then, here's Metodi's latest live set from Chervilo Club in Bulgaria:

Mugle live at Confessions of Carnival

If you haven't heard his set earlier this year, now is a good time to catch up on that.
Mugle has made a very nice selection of some great tracks and I think that it is the perfect way to be starting the new week:

Mugle live at Confesions of Carnival 12/02/2011 by Dj Mugle

Pendlum - The Island (AN21, Max Vangeli & Steve Angello Remix)
Be Satisfaction w// Knas w// Seven Nation Army Show me love (Mugles Booty)
Avicii & Sebastian Drums - My Feelings (Original Mix)
David Guetta feat. Rihana - Whos That Chick (Fmif Remix)
Tamper Trap - Sweet Disoposition (Axwell & Dirty Shout Remix)

The mix isn't very long, but it's a live record of Mugle playing at Confessions of Carnival, so its main purpose is to make you curious how it would be to see him live ;)

And since I've already seen Mugle in action, I can highly recommend him to you ;)

We Love...Nicky Romero

He is one of those producers, who make music because they can. He is djing because he can. And he is damn good. It is always a pleasure to meet someone so young, who has already found his place in life and is doing exactly what he wants to do. And the most charming thing about him is that he's having a hell of a good time by doing it. Between his international gigs, new productions and shooting the video for his latest project, he kindly found some time to answer a couple of questions. I'm very glad to present...Nicky Romero.

E: Nicky, you are so young and already a super star. When did you start djing?

N: I started out making music around 2 and a half years ago and began djing around the same time.

E: You did a re-work of David Guetta’s “When Love Takes Over”. What did change for you after uploading the track on Youtube?

N: I always get loads of feedback on my bootlegs and edits, couldn't tell you exact changes but I guess it contributed to creating a small buzz around my name and I am grateful for that.

E: It was great meeting you @ Dusseldorf’s 3001 two weeks ago and I have to say, your set was incredible! Do you prepare before a show or are you rather spontaneous on what you play on a gig?

N: I of course always have an idea of what I am going to play but it mainly depends on the crowds in the club. I really focus on the energy in the room and start to work with that, different crowds call for a different musical approach. I like to play out my new tracks and remixes of course those are almost standard on my setlists but next to that it depends on the venue, the country I am in and the crowd I play for.

E: How does it feel when artist like Tiesto, Fedde le Grand or David Guetta play your songs in their sets?

N: Well that is a great honor of course!! It is always a pleasure to work with people like that and them playing out your music is the icing on the cake for me.

E: Can you remember the moment when you realised that you’ve become famous?

N: I don't know, am I famous??

E: What is house music to you?

N: Music is my life period. I listen to loads and loads of stuff, predominately electronic music of course but music is the most import thing there is.

E: Did your parents support you in your choice of becoming a DJ/producer or did they have something else in mind for you?

N: No my parents are my biggest fans and have supported the choice I made to become a producer fully. I fell blessed to have them in my corner and their undying support.

E: What projects are you working on at the moment?

N: I have just finished a remix for David Guetta and Ushers new Dirty Dance single. I am about to release a track called Keyword on Sander Van Doorn's record label and this week we are shooting a videoclip for my next release on called Skitzophrenic.

E: You’ve had gig all over the world. Which country did you enjoy most until now?

N: To be honest I enjoy playing anywhere, I love to play, different countries have different crowds but I always give it my best and try to enjoy it to the fullest.

E: Any piece of advice for the young producers out there?

N: Never give up, follow your heart and stay positive!

With very special thanks to Sander :)

Who The Fuck Is DJ Antoine? ;)

Another week, another party, another DJ...same fabulous location.
After the huge sucess of his gig last December, HE returned to Dusseldorf's 3001 for round #2.

I'm talking about AN21, of course. The Swede is one of the hottest newcommer names in the scene and his music speaks for itself. People who don't know him tend to think that he is sucessful only because of his big brother Steve Angello. But the guy is insanelly talented and knows exactly what he's doing behind the DJ booth and in the studio.

His set was full of power and energy. It may be difficult for you to understand what I mean, but I had the feeling that well known songs like Pendulum's "The Island", Tim Mason's "The Moment" and Antoine's & Max' "Swedish Beauty" (by the way, THE one song that changed my life!) got a completely new sounding through AN21.

My personal highlight was "Safe The World" by Swedish House Mafia, which I heard then and there for the very first time in a club atmosphere.

Antoine played also "Nothing Better", "You got the love", "That sound" and many, many more.

The night was opened and closed by no one less than Patric La Funk. And altough I was standing next to him for the third weekend in a row, I was pleasantly surprised by some new tracks. I now officially have a new favourite tune! It isn't a new release but I believe that it's having a revival at the moment. It's called "Miami to Atlanta" and is by PRYDA......Yes, Mr. Prydz himself :)

Pryda - Miami To Atlanta by Eric Prydz Official

Pat also played "Diamonds in the sky", "Coming Home", "Angora", "Live your life" and of course "Autosave".

All in all, it was a great night, but honestly, I never expect something else from 3001 :)

With very special thanks to Pat, Fabian & Kai :)

Special Set For A Special Person -> Diztrak In The Mix

I know, you're all waiting for my post about last night with AN21 but first, there is something else, which I need to show you. It's a new amazing set by my good friend Diztrak and you all must download it NOW! :) The selection of the songs is just perfect and I love each one of them, because they remind me of all the great party nights, which we had in the last couple of weeks :)

Tanz in den Mai with Alex Metric, Patric La Funk & Nicky Romero

They say that loyalty pays off eventually..well, this is definitelly true!

For the last 2 months I was planning on how I'll spend the 30/04 at Cologne's Bootshaus with Laidback Luke. There was a very spontaneous last minute change of plans (Diztrak, Mugle, I can't thank you guys enough for this!!), so I decided to go to 3001 in Düsseldorf after all.

I've always known that I love this club, but yesterday we took the next step in our never ending love affair.. :)

Star of the night..well, ok, correction...starS of the night were (and I still can't believe that I'm using all of those names in just one sentence!:D) Patric La Funk, Alex Metric, Nicky Romero AND Eddie Thoneick and Fedde Le Grand! The last two had the night off and thought that it would be fun to join the party crowd at 3001 :)

And it sure was a lot of fun! So much stardust at one party - this can only happen at a fabulous location like my favourite German club 3001 :) It was a quite amusing experience to see this guys, who've basically changed my life with their music (and I'm sure, I'm not speaking only for myself here!), dancing to Patric's, Alex' and Nicky's beats and enjoying the evening as much as I did :) (when I think about Eddie's dance moves, I would say that he was enjoying it even more :D)

As to the music...what can possibly be said to describe how fucking brilliant those guys are? Patric was amazing as always, my personal highlight of his set was Tim Mason's "The Moment" (Steve Angello edit) and the crowd loved it as well. What is more, he opened the night with some really great summer tunes, which were perfect after the warm & sunny day outside.

Nicky Romero took over the DJ booth a couple of minutes after midnight. The newcommer from Holland is incredibly talented and was enjoying every single beat of the music.

The second main act of the night had made me quite impatient during the day. I saw him for the first time last year in Brixton, when he was opening for Swedish House Mafia. I sure did know what to expect from him and was very glad to be at his gig again.

I'm talking about Alex Metric, of course and his unmistakable dirty, cosmic sound. Many people would probably disagree with my choice of words, I'm sure, but I'm sticking to it! Alex' music always takes me on a wild journey and I'm a strong believer that his music should be on some really cool film's soundtrack! :D He's energetic, very passionate about djing and a really professional guy and it's a pleasure to watch him play!

So, thank you guys for this very special party! I had a lovely time :)
You can see the full gallery at my FB page :)

With very special thanks to: Fabian, Patric & Darius :)
