SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA - ONE LAST TOUR - FRANKFURT

Ok, I'm still recovering from this gig... I'm deliberately choosing to say gig over concert because it was gigantic! This show was much bigger than Brixton 2010. I haven't seen the guys playing together since then, so I could clearly see how they've developed the entertaining factor of the show. The ticket price of almost 70€ was definitely worth it! There were fireworks, confetti, a light and laser show you've never seen before.

NO_ID opened at 8 pm sharply. I like the guys but when it comes down to a show of SHM, a pre-band is totally overrated. I would've been happier, if SHM would've started directly. And to be honest, I hoped for Alesso, Calvin or Otto Knows to be the open act. Other than that, NO_ID were pretty good. I can only imagine how hard it is to open for Swedish House Mafia - you can't play any of the really cool new tracks, because they'll play them in their set later.

After the longest hour and a half in my life, the curtain fell to hide the stage until the Swedes began to play. The small booth and the screen wall behind it were taken away to make place for the real big thing. I'm talking enourmos BIG! SHM's booth was literary a stage on the stage and they were on the same high as me, who was standing on the balcony!

The booth was quite the high tech space ship - it consisted of 3 front screens, which moved up and down during the show.

When the curtain fell to reveal all of this, the Swedes were standing in front of the booth as if they first wanted to say "hi" before they climb on their space ship and take off.

The show was opened with "Greyhound". The guys played almost every big track they've, done over the past few years including "In my mind", "Together", "Save the world", "Reload" and many, maaaaaany more. I think, I'll go for my personal highlights.

First of them was "Lights" by Steve & Third Party - the track is huge! The next one was definitely "Clash" by Alesso, which is out today on Beatport. "Don't you worry child" was clearly not just my highlight because everyone sang along when the Swedes played it. Another great moment was hearing "Sweet Disposition", "One" and "From Miami to Ibiza". And of course, there was "Sunrise" by The Aston Shuffle vs Tommy Trash.

I could go like this forever, but there were just too many songs played in those two incredible hours. If you have even the slightest chance to see SHM live on their last tour, please, for the love of God, (women, say insert :D jk) do it :D It's totally worth it, it is a one in a lifetime experience and you don't wanna miss it!

For one reason or another it wasn't allowed to make any videos, so I need to post videos by other people. Nevertheless, I hope, you'll be able to imagine how cool it was :)

And here's the full tracklist:

EDDIE THONEICK - ONE GOOD REASON

I haven't been blogging for a while now but now I've found one good reason to break with the silence - it's the new track by Eddie Thoneick called "One good reason" and it will be out on Beatport by the end of this week.

I can't put in words how deeply in love I am with this song! Without any doubt this is my personal favorite of 2012. Like every of Eddie's song, this is just pure perfection. When I hear it, I feel nothing but happiness and love. Tracks like this remind me why I started this blog in the first place, so I think that you'll be reading a lot more of me in the future. Until then you all have at least one good reason to be going on Beatport this friday ;)

STEREO SUN STRIKES LIKE A LIGHTNING WITH A NEW TRACK & A NEW MIX

Looking for a new mix to upload on your iPod? Then you need to download the August mix by HendrikF. He is one of the two guys behind Stereo Sun - a producer duo from Germany, who I really, really like. While you're at downloading the mix, check out their latest single called "Blitz":

NORMAN DORAY TEAMS UP WITH NERVO

Fresh off the bandwagon of success with "Celsius" which is still repeatedly playlisted by Radio 1's Pete Tong; Norman Doray comes forth hand-in-hand with the gorgeous NERVO girls to deliver a track that the industry bigwigs are already calling 'the definitive anthem of Fall 2012'.

Norman Doray's "Something To Believe In" sets the pace for the final quarter of the year - and injects some much required anthemic toplines into the equation from Australia's loveable vocal duo NERVO and featured vocalist Cookie.

To accompany this release Norman will be embarking on a Global tour - playing with the likes of Avicii and Thomas Gold, touring North and South America, headlining the Escape To Wonderland festival, and returning to his roots for an exclusive party at Paris' Queen Club - the home of his first residency. Here are his tour dates:

Norman Doray Tour:
1st Sep - Seattle, USA
3rd Sep - Space, Ibiza
7th Sep - Manchester, UK
8th Sep - Edinburgh, UK
21st Sep - Paris, France
22nd Sep - Milan, Italy
27th Sep - 1 week South America tour
28th Sep - Suriname
4th Oct - Sao Paulo
6th Oct - Green Valley Festival, Brazil

It's here and iTunes is finally working again (except mine, which is on strike like it seems). We have a brand new episode of Dance Addicts for you with a loooooot of good music. This episode is very b2b and should remind you of the beginning of dance music. I hope you'll like it. My pick of the month is the brand new Avicii track, which he played at this year's Ultra Festival in Miami for the first time.

You can suscribe to Dance Addicts & download the episode on itunes. And here's the playlist:

PROK & FITCH vs DALEY PADLEY - THE NEW WAVE (MARCO LYS vs PROK & FITCH 2012 RE-DUB)

Another hot tune out there is the latest remix of my favorite Italian Marco Lys together Prok & Fitch. On 02/07 this remix of "The New Wave" will be featured on Stealth's annual Ibiza 2012 compilation. Until then, you can listen to it here:

COSMIC FUNK ft. MAX C - I'LL NEVER STOP

This track was released at the end of May, but it already turned out to be a great summer tune. The latest tune by Cosmic Funk is with no one less than Max C, who is responsible for some of the best house music tracks out there. It's no surprise then, that this one's huge too.

ARE SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA REALLY QUITTING PLAYING TOGETHER?

Ok, this just came in directly from Swedish House Mafia.

I'm still really hoping that this is just a bad joke, but no one knows for sure yet. Nevertheless, this is an official statement from the boys and I guess that it has to be some true in it. If it turns out to be true, then this is definitely the end of an era. Even if they keep producing tracks as SHM, not playing gigs together would be a big loss to the EDM scene.

I'll keep you posted on this one.

D RAMIREZ & MARA ft. STEVE EDWARDS - KEEP US TOGETHER

You all know this moment, when everything seems to be perfect: You hear a song and it feels like summer's kissing you with its warm sun. This was this morning to me, when I listened to this amazing song with the unmistakable voice of Steve Edwards. The song was originally released in November 2010 on Toolroom Records, but it's still huge! So enjoy!

DABRUCK & KLEIN FEAT. ANNA MCDONALD - ALL ABOUT YOU (DISFUNKTION REMIX)

I came across this great track, while listening to the latest episode of Tara McDonald's "Shut up and dance" show this monday. The tune was released last month on Zouk Records and was produced by Dabruck & Klein - two amazingly talented german producers & DJs. A little known interesting fact about the vocals - they are by Tara's sister Anna. The good (musical) genes obviously run in the McDonald family. Anna recorded the vocals at her home in the UK and I am really stunned by the result. The remix by the Disfunktion guys tqkes the track to the next level and makes it perfect for the upcoming summer. Get your copy on Beatport.

TARA MCDONALD - GIVE ME MORE - THE REMIXES

Tara's first solo track "Give me more" is huge at the moment and so are the brand new remixes by Michael Gray, Nathan C, Pixel Cheese and Ralph Good. I believe that there will be at least one for every taste! They will be out very soon, until then check them out on Youtube:

For those of you, who haven't had the pleasure of listening to Dance Addicts yet, you can read my interview with Zalman from 2010.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure to discover a podcast on iTunes, which I think is something new, fresh and very nice to hear. I really wanted to share it with you and I got lucky, because its host Zalman Lekach took some of his time to give me this interview. I’ll keep the introduction short and will let the man speak for himself…

E: Zalman, you are hosting the weekly podcast "Dance Addicts". Tell us something more about your show?

Z: Doing the show is the easy part. Getting the talent is more than half the battle, of course if I was dedicated full time it would be easier, but I cant lose my main job which is co-hosting and producing the super fun and very entertaining action sports show “Adrenalina” which can be seen on SiTV and in october on Discovery HD Theatre.

E: How is "Dance Addicts" different from other shows?

Z: Besides playing tracks that are no more than 2 weeks ripe, we really focus on the guest mix. We like to give a full hour really giving the dj / producer enough time to showcase his skills, and we never interrupt with 68 annoying sound bites. (maybe just 1 to start it off (laughing)

E: Your guests are huge names in the house scene like Cicada, David Tort, Michael Woods and many more. Who is THE one dj you haven't worked with yet, but you wish to have on your show?

Z: It’s a funny question, because there are many I’d love to have on the show. The reason I say it’s funny is usually when someone says “no”, they say “oh we have prior engagements, not enough time, too busy touring”. However, Sasha, the one guy I’d really love to have on just flat out said no. It obviously wasn’t him, it was his management. And the other times the talent has so many layers of booking agents, publicists, and manager,s it’s almost impossible to find out who to talk to, let alone get a mix out of them like Erick Morillo or Nic Fanciulli

E: You are a regular performer at the Winter Music Conference. How do you prepare for such a big event?

Z: I normally treat it like any other gig but I keep an extra ear out for tracks that I feel are getting more played than others and try to avoid playing those, unless it’s a completely amazing banger like Riva Starr's remix of “Hey Hey” (which was definitely this past WMC's top track). Than it’s almost a sin if you don’t drop it.

E: When did you realize your love for house music?

Z: It’s hard to put an exact date on that, but I would guess around the mid to late 90's. I was born and raised in Miami and when the 1st wave of dance music came through during the Amnesia, and Shadow lounge days, I was there. Guys like Oakey, Paul van Dyk and George Acosta were staples at those places and it was great hearing them but I really love what Oscar G has done and is continuing to do for the house scene in Miami, it’s just terrific.

E: Who are your musical influences?

Z: No matter what genre I listen to, it always starts with Pink Floyd for me. As far as dj / producers I would say Sander Kleinenberg, Erick Morillo, Chris Lake, Sebastien Leger, Paul van Dyk, Sasha, Deep Dish, Tiesto, Pryda, Markus Schulz, Daft Punk, ooooh geeez, I can go forever (laughing). Right now I’m really into Joris Voorn, Deadmau5, Marco Carola, Soul Clap, Paul Ritch, SHM, Kaiserdisco and Luciano.

E: What are your plans for the future?

Z: I don’t see too many changes as far as my career in the television world. As for my djiing career, I would love to do the podcast for as long as I possibly can and I guess, when between seasons of the tv show, I’d like to land a residency at my favorite club Space Miami (Space Ibiza would be nice too!) hint hint Louis Puig!! Oh yeah, I’d also like a lot more airtime. I’ve been sooo busy lately though (Did I tell you, I fly airplanes as well as jump out of them?) Thanks for the interview Elly, I’d love to hear from you again very soon!!

And thank you, Zalman, for your time!
The new episode is now online with special guest mix by Trafik. Enjoy here!

With the lovingly support of Mark Kubiliun:)

PATRIC LA FUNK IN THE MIX

Wohooooo, it's here - a new mix by Patric la Funk! Like usual, you'll find a lot of new tracks (too bad that his latest track "Smile" with DJ Delicious isn't one of them). TARA MCDONALD - SHUT UP AND DANCE 21.05.2012

Hey guys, it's time for another episode of "Shut up and Dance" by the Queen of House Tara McDonald. This episode will be special in many ways. First, Tara will open with her first solo track called "Give me more" of her forthcoming album. I really like this track, it's so Tara - it's very frisky, very sexy and it won't get out of your head for the rest of the day.

Tara is also trying out new stuff on the show - she'll be playing a classic track every week at the end of every show and from what I'm seeing, at least tonight she'll be playing a threesome by Fragma, so maybe it'll be also a new feature on "Shut up and Dance" to play three major tracks by one producer.

Other than that, you can listen to "All About You" by Dabruck & Klein and what not all of you know - the vocals of the song are by Tara's sister Anna McDonald.

If you can't tune in tonight from 1AM to 2AM on FG Radio, you can easily download the episodes on itunes.

MARTIN SOLVEIG & CROOKERS AT COCOON

What will you be doing on your long weekend? If you still don't have any plans, I have just the right parties for you on your NIGHT OUT! Starting with tonight: Martin Solveig. He'll be playing at CocoonClub in Frankfurt at the third birthday of Ministry of Sound together with Hed Kandi resident Sebastián Serrano.

After this party you have exactly two days to prepare for the next one. The location stays the same, but the DJs come from Italy. I'm talking about Crookers, of course. The italian duo is best known for their awesome remix of Cid Kudi's "Day 'n' Night", which made the song epic. Envy My Music will make this event even crazier by turning it into a FAKE party and who can be a better warm up than Envy My Music DJs Marco Sönke & Chris Coman? Make sure to be there, it'll be a night to remember!

ALESSO vs KEANE - SILENCED BY THE NIGHT (ALESSO REMIX)

Alesso has proven to be a great producer many times before. His style is unmistakalble and every single one of his tracks turnes out to be big eventually. So is his latest remix of his own track "Silenced by the night" with Keane. The track was released just 4 days ago on Refune Records and is already #11 on Beatport's chart. With so many good tunes I wouldn't be surprised, if Alesso decides to collect them all on his first album. But this is just me, daydreaming :) Enjoy the track & buy the original on Beatport:

I'm losing my mind over this one. The video of "Calling / Lose my mind" by Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso is finally online. I think it's pretty cool, but I was always a fan of behind the scenes footage turned into a video. What do you think?

GET NO SLEEP pres. NEONLAND with PATRIC LA FUNK, EDDIE THONEICK, FEDDE LE GRAND & DENIZ KOYU

One year after I first met Eddie Thoneick & Fedde Le Grand at Tanz in den Mai in Dusseldorf's 3001 and spent my absolute greatest after b-day party with them, Patric la Funk, Alex Metric & Nicky Romero, I instantly knew that I want to do the same this year. The location changed, but the usual suspects remained pretty much the same.

Get No Sleep launched its party Neonland at the famous Bootshaus in Cologne on 30/04 and made my dream come true. With a line up like this - Patric la Funk, Eddie Thoneick, Fedde Le Grand & Deniz Koyu - it could only become a night to remember. And it definitely was!

The party started at around 10pm, when Patric played some tracks to warm up the crowd. It didn't take long until everyone was dancing and jumping around. What can I say, he knows what he's doing. What is more, he was filming the video clip of his latest track with DJ Delicious this evening. The new tune, which promises to be a very big one, is called "Smile" and all you had to do to be in the video was to just wear something with the word or an actual smile on it. I felt a great vibe from the crowd with all those people smiling and I thought to myself that Patric is finally getting the acknoledgment, which he has always deserved. I could clearly see this when he played "Autosave" - the track with Fedde Le Grand came out last year on 14/02 and now, over a year later, it seems like everyone knows and loves it.

The second DJ, who took over the DJ booth was Eddie Thoneick and although I didn't win his iPad, I still love to see him play :D I love his style and the way he lives through his music. If you haven't seen him live yet, this is something you should definitely do soon! He puts so much energy into his sets, you just have to jump around to every single one of his beats. I'm also a huge fan of all of Eddie's bootlegs. He is taking the best out of two songs and turns them into one amazing track. This makes his sets absolutely unique.

Patric played again right after Eddie, just in time to shoot the second part of the video "Smile" together with DJ Delicious and two crazy monsters :D Then it was time for Deniz Koyu to take over the DJ booth. It was my first time to see Deniz live. Letting him play before Fedde was a very wise move, because he has a very similar style - one of the many reasons why he released some of his tracks on Fedde's label Flamingo Recordings. The crowd loved him and now I know why he's on this year's MTV "EDM Rookies to watch" list.

Last but not least played Fedde Le Grand. It was his second show this evening. He came straight from the Cocoon Club in Frankfurt and that's why his show started at 4am. This is usually the time when most people begin to leave, but something was different that night. It was almost like there was something in the air after Fedde's arrival - everyone went crazy. The club was so packed, you couldn't move an inch, let alone dance. Nevertheless, we all enjoyed every minute of it.

So now it's official: 30/04 is my absolute favorite day to go to a party. Not only, because it's a couple of days after my birthday, but because every time it turnes out to be a legendary night!

FAKE pres. SUNNERY JAMES & RYAN MARCIANO AT COCOONCLUB

People always ask if there is something in the water in Holland that makes this tiny country churn out so many prolific and successful DJs and producers. Seems there may be some credence to this tale because we have another pair joining the ranks of the Dutch musical super elite - Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. Both will be at the legendary CocoonClub in Frankfurt this Saturday to smash a crazy party with FAKE.

Axwell [SHM] said after playing with them in Ibiza last year that “If there were a Dutch version of Swedish House Mafia, it would be Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano.” It seems their funky house and tribal sound struck a chord with party goers and, after gaining popularity in their home country, these best friends took their electric energy worldwide.

Sunnery and Ryan DJ sets are becoming the stuff of legend. With hair flopping and body rockin’, there is no time to sit on the sidelines at one of their shows. They embody dance music fully, bringing the crowd to epic peaks, arms in the air and smiles all around. It’s not a genre thing, it’s a music thing, and Sunnery and Ryan convey that passion to the dancefloor in a way very few artists can. See them one time and you will understand.

Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano are the next big thing, headed to #1 and all that bio fluff. The thing about great artists is this, they don’t need words on paper hyping their sound because the only thing that matters is how they make you feel when they play. Make sure to go to the CocoonClub on Saturday and see for yourself how these two guys "play" history ;) What is more, the FAKE event guarantees for 100% craziness, which is exactly what you need to escape the bad weather outside!

RSVP for the event here.

UMAGINATION 2012

I hope you still don't have any plans for the beginning of June, but if you do, they should be to fly to Croatia and become part of this year's Umagination festival. The Umagination Festival in Croatia is the highlight of Adria Music Conference, the European equivalent of the Miami Music Conference and therefore one of the most important events for the electronic dance music scene in Europe. Back in 2010, when the first festival took place near the city of Umag, no one thought that 5000 people would rave to Fatboy Slim’s crazy sounds. Now, two years later, the name “Umagination” is associated with the big headliners of the EDM scene like Tiesto, Erick Morillo and Alesso, especially after last summer’s festival, which they tore apart with their DJ sets.

Umagination 2012 will be special in many ways. Not only that Axwell, Martin Solveig and Deniz Koyu are on the line up for Saturday, 2nd of June 2012, but the festival will get big support from German brand & event agency ENVY MY MUSIC. It was only a matter of time before the first international partnership became a fact – with ENVY MY MUSIC launching the warm up party on the night before the big night, it’s absolutely sure that it will be a night to remember.
ENVY MY MUSIC is one of Germany’s most successful party concepts and will be launching the warm up party at the club Jimmy Woo for this year’s Umagination festival in Croatia. Sven Kirchhof and Marco Sönke, residents at the famous CocoonClub in Frankfurt, will put together their favourite tracks to play for thousands of people, who will travel from all over the world just to be part of this weekend full of musical excellence.

It wouldn't be far off the truth to say that ENVY MY MUSIC is one of the most successful event agencys in Germany. By being responsible for almost every Saturday night at the legendary CocoonClub in Frankfurt for the past seven years, the international music-, event- & booking agency based in Frankfurt/Germany turned out to be a very serious label with one main aim - to be different and to be better. Realizing EMM events in cooperation with Fedde Le Grand at Pacha Ibiza, gigs at La Terrrazza Barcelona and Cavo Paradiso Mykonos only shows that the people behind this event serial know exactly what they do. Their next international conquest over the Croatian Umagination Festival is another huge step into establishing this brand worldwide.

What is more, you have the chance to book your all-round ticket via ENVY MY MUSIC directly. You can choose between three great packages. Every package includes your Umagination ticket for 2 days including the EMM warm up party and two nights at a hotel near the festival. The price depends on how many people you plan to go with.

Make sure to be there, it'll be amazing!
