DABRUCK & KLEIN FEAT. ANNA MCDONALD - ALL ABOUT YOU (DISFUNKTION REMIX)

I came across this great track, while listening to the latest episode of Tara McDonald's "Shut up and dance" show this monday. The tune was released last month on Zouk Records and was produced by Dabruck & Klein - two amazingly talented german producers & DJs. A little known interesting fact about the vocals - they are by Tara's sister Anna. The good (musical) genes obviously run in the McDonald family. Anna recorded the vocals at her home in the UK and I am really stunned by the result. The remix by the Disfunktion guys tqkes the track to the next level and makes it perfect for the upcoming summer. TARA MCDONALD - GIVE ME MORE - THE REMIXES

Tara's first solo track "Give me more" is huge at the moment and so are the brand new remixes by Michael Gray, Nathan C, Pixel Cheese and Ralph Good. I believe that there will be at least one for every taste! They will be out very soon, until then check them out on Youtube:

For those of you, who haven't had the pleasure of listening to Dance Addicts yet, you can read my interview with Zalman from 2010.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure to discover a podcast on iTunes, which I think is something new, fresh and very nice to hear. I really wanted to share it with you and I got lucky, because its host Zalman Lekach took some of his time to give me this interview. I’ll keep the introduction short and will let the man speak for himself…

E: Zalman, you are hosting the weekly podcast "Dance Addicts". Tell us something more about your show?

Z: Doing the show is the easy part. Getting the talent is more than half the battle, of course if I was dedicated full time it would be easier, but I cant lose my main job which is co-hosting and producing the super fun and very entertaining action sports show “Adrenalina” which can be seen on SiTV and in october on Discovery HD Theatre.

E: How is "Dance Addicts" different from other shows?

Z: Besides playing tracks that are no more than 2 weeks ripe, we really focus on the guest mix. We like to give a full hour really giving the dj / producer enough time to showcase his skills, and we never interrupt with 68 annoying sound bites. (maybe just 1 to start it off (laughing)

E: Your guests are huge names in the house scene like Cicada, David Tort, Michael Woods and many more. Who is THE one dj you haven't worked with yet, but you wish to have on your show?

Z: It’s a funny question, because there are many I’d love to have on the show. The reason I say it’s funny is usually when someone says “no”, they say “oh we have prior engagements, not enough time, too busy touring”. However, Sasha, the one guy I’d really love to have on just flat out said no. It obviously wasn’t him, it was his management. And the other times the talent has so many layers of booking agents, publicists, and manager,s it’s almost impossible to find out who to talk to, let alone get a mix out of them like Erick Morillo or Nic Fanciulli

E: You are a regular performer at the Winter Music Conference. How do you prepare for such a big event?

Z: I normally treat it like any other gig but I keep an extra ear out for tracks that I feel are getting more played than others and try to avoid playing those, unless it’s a completely amazing banger like Riva Starr's remix of “Hey Hey” (which was definitely this past WMC's top track). Than it’s almost a sin if you don’t drop it.

E: When did you realize your love for house music?

Z: It’s hard to put an exact date on that, but I would guess around the mid to late 90's. I was born and raised in Miami and when the 1st wave of dance music came through during the Amnesia, and Shadow lounge days, I was there. Guys like Oakey, Paul van Dyk and George Acosta were staples at those places and it was great hearing them but I really love what Oscar G has done and is continuing to do for the house scene in Miami, it’s just terrific.

E: Who are your musical influences?

Z: No matter what genre I listen to, it always starts with Pink Floyd for me. As far as dj / producers I would say Sander Kleinenberg, Erick Morillo, Chris Lake, Sebastien Leger, Paul van Dyk, Sasha, Deep Dish, Tiesto, Pryda, Markus Schulz, Daft Punk, ooooh geeez, I can go forever (laughing). Right now I’m really into Joris Voorn, Deadmau5, Marco Carola, Soul Clap, Paul Ritch, SHM, Kaiserdisco and Luciano.

E: What are your plans for the future?

Z: I don’t see too many changes as far as my career in the television world. As for my djiing career, I would love to do the podcast for as long as I possibly can and I guess, when between seasons of the tv show, I’d like to land a residency at my favorite club Space Miami (Space Ibiza would be nice too!) hint hint Louis Puig!! Oh yeah, I’d also like a lot more airtime. I’ve been sooo busy lately though (Did I tell you, I fly airplanes as well as jump out of them?) Thanks for the interview Elly, I’d love to hear from you again very soon!!

And thank you, Zalman, for your time!
The new episode is now online with special guest mix by Trafik. Enjoy here!

With the lovingly support of Mark Kubiliun:)

PATRIC LA FUNK IN THE MIX

Wohooooo, it's here - a new mix by Patric la Funk! Like usual, you'll find a lot of new tracks (too bad that his latest track "Smile" with DJ Delicious isn't one of them). TARA MCDONALD - SHUT UP AND DANCE 21.05.2012

Hey guys, it's time for another episode of "Shut up and Dance" by the Queen of House Tara McDonald. This episode will be special in many ways. First, Tara will open with her first solo track called "Give me more" of her forthcoming album. I really like this track, it's so Tara - it's very frisky, very sexy and it won't get out of your head for the rest of the day.

Tara is also trying out new stuff on the show - she'll be playing a classic track every week at the end of every show and from what I'm seeing, at least tonight she'll be playing a threesome by Fragma, so maybe it'll be also a new feature on "Shut up and Dance" to play three major tracks by one producer.

Other than that, you can listen to "All About You" by Dabruck & Klein and what not all of you know - the vocals of the song are by Tara's sister Anna McDonald.

If you can't tune in tonight from 1AM to 2AM on FG Radio, you can easily download the episodes on itunes.

After this party you have exactly two days to prepare for the next one. The location stays the same, but the DJs come from Italy. I'm talking about Crookers, of course. ALESSO vs KEANE - SILENCED BY THE NIGHT (ALESSO REMIX)

Alesso has proven to be a great producer many times before. His style is unmistakalble and every single one of his tracks turnes out to be big eventually. So is his latest remix of his own track "Silenced by the night" with Keane. The track was released just 4 days ago on Refune Records and is already #11 on Beatport's chart. With so many good tunes I wouldn't be surprised, if Alesso decides to collect them all on his first album. But this is just me, daydreaming :) Enjoy the track & buy the original on Beatport:

SEBASTIAN INGROSSO & ALESSO - CALLING / LOSE MY MIND

I'm losing my mind over this one. The video of "Calling / Lose my mind" by Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso is finally online. I think it's pretty cool, but I was always a fan of behind the scenes footage turned into a video. What do you think?

GET NO SLEEP pres. NEONLAND with PATRIC LA FUNK, EDDIE THONEICK, FEDDE LE GRAND & DENIZ KOYU

One year after I first met Eddie Thoneick & Fedde Le Grand at Tanz in den Mai in Dusseldorf's 3001 and spent my absolute greatest after b-day party with them, Patric la Funk, Alex Metric & Nicky Romero, I instantly knew that I want to do the same this year. The location changed, but the usual suspects remained pretty much the same.

Get No Sleep launched its party Neonland at the famous Bootshaus in Cologne on 30/04 and made my dream come true. With a line up like this - Patric la Funk, Eddie Thoneick, Fedde Le Grand & Deniz Koyu - it could only become a night to remember. And it definitely was!

The party started at around 10pm, when Patric played some tracks to warm up the crowd. It didn't take long until everyone was dancing and jumping around. What can I say, he knows what he's doing. What is more, he was filming the video clip of his latest track with DJ Delicious this evening. The new tune, which promises to be a very big one, is called "Smile" and all you had to do to be in the video was to just wear something with the word or an actual smile on it. I felt a great vibe from the crowd with all those people smiling and I thought to myself that Patric is finally getting the acknoledgment, which he has always deserved. I could clearly see this when he played "Autosave" - the track with Fedde Le Grand came out last year on 14/02 and now, over a year later, it seems like everyone knows and loves it.

The second DJ, who took over the DJ booth was Eddie Thoneick and although I didn't win his iPad, I still love to see him play :D I love his style and the way he lives through his music. If you haven't seen him live yet, this is something you should definitely do soon! He puts so much energy into his sets, you just have to jump around to every single one of his beats. I'm also a huge fan of all of Eddie's bootlegs. He is taking the best out of two songs and turns them into one amazing track. This makes his sets absolutely unique.

Patric played again right after Eddie, just in time to shoot the second part of the video "Smile" together with DJ Delicious and two crazy monsters :D Then it was time for Deniz Koyu to take over the DJ booth. It was my first time to see Deniz live. Letting him play before Fedde was a very wise move, because he has a very similar style - one of the many reasons why he released some of his tracks on Fedde's label Flamingo Recordings. The crowd loved him and now I know why he's on this year's MTV "EDM Rookies to watch" list.

Last but not least played Fedde Le Grand. It was his second show this evening. He came straight from the Cocoon Club in Frankfurt and that's why his show started at 4am. This is usually the time when most people begin to leave, but something was different that night. It was almost like there was something in the air after Fedde's arrival - everyone went crazy. The club was so packed, you couldn't move an inch, let alone dance. Nevertheless, we all enjoyed every minute of it.

So now it's official: 30/04 is my absolute favorite day to go to a party. Not only, because it's a couple of days after my birthday, but because every time it turnes out to be a legendary night!
