The most amazing week ever!

Last week was very special to me. I had the chance to be at three really massive gigs and had the time of my life.

On Saturday, 29 May, the boys from Swedish House Mafia rocked Brixton once again, only six months after the two epic parties in November 2009. Arriving from Germany at 10pm, I opened the door of the O2 Academy and entered in another universe. It was such a sublime moment to stand there in the same hall where Swedish House Mafia broke all records with two sold out shows and more than 60kg confetti :)

The one gig besides the main act of the Swedish boys, which I was really looking forward to, was the one by AN21, Steve Angello's little brother. And it was exactly like I've imagined it! My favourite moments were when he played the Riva Starr Remix of Lys' and Lake's "La Tromba", and of course his new project with Max Vangeli - "Smack My Bitch Up" (which they've released for free two weeks ago!!).

Next was Alex Metric. To be honest, until then I hadn't really heard of him, but man, that was quite a gig! His music was accompanied by a surreal lightshow on the big screen behind him and it was breathtaking and so great to feel the energy, which he invested in his mixing!

At 1:30 then, the countdown began. Damn, the Swedes know how to make a good show and the moment of their appereance was enhanced by letting down a big white screen where you could see the Masquerade Motel trailer. And then the screen fell. After realizing that Swedish House Mafia was standing on the stage, people went crazy. Playing "One" didn't make things better :) It was so unique to hear this song live, to feel it, to see the people feeling it...indescribable!

After a while I found myself dancing at the balcony, from where I had a better view - 5000 people jumping around aren't really helping when you're trying to make a good video :)

The gig was massive! Everyone who hasn't been at Brixton last year has heard the stories, but you have to see it, otherwise you just can't imagine how huge it is!
It is always great to see one of the guys mixing, but the three of them together - is like THE perfect match. As to the music - the combination of rythm and fireworks was just perfect. My very special favourite, after "One" of course, was the bootleg of Martin Danielle's and Carl Louis' "The Message" vs. Axwell's "Open Your Heart" - so much love in that song!

The highlight of the evening was the rain of confetti coming down from the ceiling, while the boys were playing the remix of "Show Me Love".

After this amazing experience, I had exactly two days to get ready for the next one. The Queen of house music, Tara McDonald, had a gig in Club No1 in Saarbruecken as a part of her Ibiza promo tour. I would lie, if I'd sad that I wasn't totally hyped because, to be honest, after tweeting with her over the last few months, I was anxious to finally meet her.

And tonight was the night! When you see photos of her, most people think "Wow! She's so beautiful!" Well, she's even more beautiful live (if that's even possible!). She began her show with "Delirious" and everyone was singing along. It was so inspiring to see how someone's having so much fun singing! Tara sang some really great songs, including her new single with Mowgli "Can't Stop Singing" and Armand van Helden's "My My My". But THE most special moment was when she performed her and Axwell's "Feel The Vibe" - the song that's responsible for me falling in love with house music. I'd already heard it live last summer when Tara was performing it at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, but the atmosphere last Wednesday was so intimate...I did "feel the vibe"!

After her gig, she gave her fans signed promo cardswith her cover from the French Playboy on them (which I'm still hoping to find somewhere!!). I felt really special, because she recognized me from my Twitter profile picture and I hope that she knows how much it meant to me to finally meet her!

And like that wasn't already the coolest week ever, I've decided to go to Dusseldorf (Dizzledorf :)) ) on Saturday. I couldn't resist seeing Axwell once again live, since he was playing this very same day in my favourite German club 3001.

If you live in Germany, this club is like the most amazing place to party! The atmosphere is just breathtaking - huge screens on every wall and a laser show, which is perfectly accompanying the music. But THE most important thing is the sound system. The beat is going through your body like an electric shock and you find yourself dancing all night long.

Patric La Funk opened the evening with an amazing set. Highlight was, of course, "Hey Hey" by Dennis Ferrer. It is just unthinkable to not hear this song in 3001 :)
Mr. La Funk made the people really hot, it was brilliant how everyone got infected with good mood.

And then Axwell came. What can I possibly say to describe his unreal talent and his devotion? He played a two and a half hour power mix of high level house music, including smashing tunes like the Dark Forest re-edit of "Leave The World Behind", the bootleg of "Your Name", Calvin Harris' "Flashback", but also his brand new co-production with Adrian Lux "Teenage Crime". The highlight of this evening was definitely "Sweet Disposition", which made the crowd screem out of pleasure.

After his gig, Ax took his time to take pictures with his fans and altough he was exhausted, he had a smile for everyone :)

If you got curious what's like to be part of such a massive event - Axwell is making a small Germany tour to promote "Axtone Vol.1". The compilation is coming out on 14 June and is presenting all tracks that were released by Axtone Records over the years and some new tunes. The next gigs are 12/06 in Heilbronn and 18/06 in Bielefeld. Enjoy!
