Put Your Hands Up For Fedde Le Grand!

I'm sure that all of you have danced to "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit". I'm also sure that all of you have loved "The Creeps". But do you know who's behind these huge tracks? He was born and raised in the Netherlands, he has made remixes for Madonna, Robbie Williams, Sharam & Benny Benassi. His own label Flamingo Recordings is a huge name in the scene and as to his music - you have to be from another planet, if you haven't heard it yet! Put your hands up for Mr. Fedde Le Grand...

E: Fedde, What is it that you like about Bulgaria so much?

F: First of all, I think the country is beautiful and they easily have one of the best crowds in the world.

E: How’s the Bulgarian crowd different than people from other countries?

F: They’re open minded and 200% full on.

E: Mark Knight dedicated his “Yalta Groove” to Yalta Club in Sofia. Have you ever
produced a song in order to dedicate it to something or someone?

F: No not yet, but Bulgaria definitely deserves one, Yalta is my favourite club anywhere in the world, I’m not surprised Mark dedicated his track to the place :)

E: What are your impressions of this year’s WMC?

F: I’ve never seen all the clubs and festivals so packed, even though it was more Americans than Europeans this year. I think that with all the economic recession stuff going on at the moment, most of the guys in Europe are saving themselves for ADE.

E: What do you expect from the MidWest Festival in Germany on 24/07?

F: It’s always exciting when festivals start for the first time and I think that the line up is quite strong, they’ve bought some really big hitters in for a first go, so I think it’s going to be amazing.

E: Any big plans for the summer?

F: I’ll be doing my Takeover Tour this summer and I’ve got a residency at Space, Ibiza this year. I’m really looking forward to it but I’ll probably collapse after the end of the summer! I don’t think I’ve ever been so busy and to say that after how mental last summer was is really saying something.

E: Patric La Funk mentioned in an interview that you two are working on a vocal
version of “Autosave”. Can you tell us, is it a woman’s or a man’s voice? And do
you happen to have a release date?

F: It’s a man’s voice and I probably save it for my album. I haven’t decided anything about that one yet and it’s not coming out this year so you guys have to wait for this one but you are very well informed :)

E: I can still remember how I danced to “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit” in 2006. What
did change for you after releasing this huge track?

F: It was the start of my international career. It really was insane how quickly that track became so huge, one minute I was big in the Netherlands, the next I’m playing all over the world, I’m on the radio, the TV, being asked to come and do special shows, everyone wants to interview me – it was really mental. In a good way :)

E: I couldn’t help but notice that you like to use Twitter :) What do you think of
social networks in general?

F: Haha yes I do seem to spend a lot of time on Twitter but hey, I get to go to so many amazing places and do great things and I always get excited so I like to let everyone know what a good time I’m having :) For me, social networks are the new future, that’s why when we rebuilt the www.feddelegrand.com website, it was really important for me that we built some sort of social network in there so people could interact with me and each other. It's worked out really well; I think it makes my site more of a community than just another news site.

E: How do you enjoy your free time? (besides hanging out with Patric, Nicky, Eddie
and Alex :D )

F: I love going to the gym. I like to keep myself fit. Healthy body equals healthy mind, it’s definitely true.

E: What to expect from Fedde Le Grand in the future?

F: There’s a lot of music coming out in the future! I’m working on a couple of collaborations and I have a couple of remixes coming up. Besides that I’m working on some of my own stuff and thinking about an album. I just have to find the time in between gigs to work on everything.

Thank you Fedde for your time and fot this interview! It was such a pleasure meating you last month at 3001! Looking forward to see you at the MidWest Festival in July :)

Super You & Me with Laidback Luke, Revero, Sinden & Brenmar

I actually did it! I still can't believe that after missing 3 of Laidback Luke's famous Super You & Me parties in the last 365 days I was able to be at this one!
And I have to say, it was so damn worth it to wait!

It is more than clear where the party was at - my favourite German club of course :)
And 3001 did a great job on the decoration for Luke's event - 3 huge awesome looking "Super You & Me" elements were hanging from the ceiling of the club and Fabian, if you don't need the enourmous disco ball anymore - I'm more than willing to take it :D

The evening was opened by Revero - an insanelly talented guy from Holland. He's only 19 but man, he can mix! After playing "One For Me" by James Talk & Ridney and "Pressure" by Alex Kenji, Starkillers and Nadia Ali he totally won my respect! I also heard a lot of his own productions, which are really, really great! Thumbs up for you, mate :)

Revero was followed by two amazing sets from Sinden and Brenmar. I have to say, I was pleasently surprised by the R&B touch of the evening. I heard some really amazing house remixes of "Say my name" by Destiny's Child and "He wasn't man enough" by Toni Braxton - very refreshing!

And then came Luke...Laidback Luke :) What can I possibly say to describe how crazy this guy is?! Dressed like Neo from "The Matrix" he took the jam-packed club on a really insane journey by playing some extremely dirty beats. I'd never seen something like this party - everyone was jumping around and singing along, it was hot and sweaty and the music was electrifying.

For all of you who hadn't had the chance yet to see Laiback Luke live - please make sure to do so! It is a one in a lifetime experience!

With special thanks to Fabian Veldmann & Revero :)
